I have TCL Roku Tv and love to binge watch the Netflix web series I get to know from the Google or Social media. One night I was watching a movie on Netflix and suddenly found a problem in it. I found that Netflix not working on Roku.

I tried so many things I knew but nothing worked, whatever I tried to play never loaded. I browsed different Roku related forums and other resources to find the solution. After long research, I found that few working solution. I would love to share with you in this post.

If you find Netflix is not working ok Roku, Try this solution to reset your device. Press the Home button on the Remote Five times, then Press the Up arrow one time, then Press Rewind button two times. Finally, hit the Fast Forward button twice. It will force restart your device.

After restart, it should not take long time Roku to come into the active condition. Wait until process finishes. Netflix should work find after it.

Check If Netflix is Down?

It is possible that no any external factor is cause behind Netflix is down. Sometimes, Netflix service goes down due to server issues, upgradation work, etc.

To serve content to viewers, it is necessary Netflix always be connected with its servers. And these servers should always be active and into running mode.

You can check if the Netflix service is active or running under maintenance on their official page.  

Update The Netflix App:

Popular streaming apps like Netflix always get updated to remove the bugs people reported and patching the security loopholes.

It may be possible that any bug is causing the error in Netflix app on Roku device, it can be fixed by updating the app.

In order to update the Netflix on Roku, you need to update the Roku by following the steps given below:-

  1. Press Home key on the Roku device.
  2. Go to Settings>System.
  3. Opt for System update.
  4. Click Check now to get info about any update related to the Netflix.

If any update available install it and relaunch the app on your Roku. Updating app should fix the issue.

Reinstall The Channel

As a general convention, Adding back the Channel to Roku once you have uninstalled it fix most of the issues. Keeping the same concept in mind, follow the steps given below:-

  1. Press the Home button on your Roku device.
  2. Here select the Netflix app and press the asterisk(*) button from the remote to open submenu.
  3. Select Remove channel.
  4. Now press the Home button again.
  5. Select Streaming channels and find Netflix.
  6. Install the Netflix again and perform the login process.

Once you are login into the account, check if the issue has been resolved. If not, move to the next solution.  

Unplug TV and Roku device

The next thing we can do to get the Netflix again working on Roku is Unplugging the Tv and Roku streaming device from the wall socket. If your TV has Roku built-in, just unplug your TV only. 

The hack is to wait for 60 seconds. You need to have patience and make sure at least one minute has passed before plugging them back in.

While the Tv is unplugged, find and hold the power button of your TV for 30 seconds. I am talking power button on your TV, not on Remote.

This process releases any residual power left in the TV and enables TV to soft reset itself. It is different than normal switching remote ON and OFF.

After the 60 seconds plug the TV and Roku back in, and power up the TV and Netflix should work find this time.

Restart The Roku

It may possible that reinstalling the Netflix app won’t solve the issue. Next you can do is restart the device to fix Netflix not working on Roku.

To do so-

  1. Press the Home key on your Roku device remote.
  2. Next go to Settings>System.
  3. Select System Restart.
  4. Click on Restart and confirm if any prompt appears on the screen.

Once the Roku device completes the restarts process, open the Netflix app to check if the issue is fixed.

Reset The Roku

You can Factory reset your Roku device to fix the Netflix not working issue. You must know that it remove all the device data associated with it.

It will also log you out from the all the streaming services you using on your Roku. So remember to add all the services again and login back into all of them after reset.

Step1: Go the Roku’s home screen and select Settings option.

Step2: Go to System>Advanced system settings.

Step3: Choose Factory Reset.

Step4: As you select the Factory reset, a Code will be generated on the screen that you need to put into the box showing on the same screen.

Step5: then Press the ok.

The Complete process may take some time so you have to wait until it’s all done. Once the device is in powered on condition, check if Netflix not working on Roku problem is solved.

If you don’t have remote to reset the Roku, find the Reset button on your Roku. If it has one, press and hold the button to reset the Roku.

Reset Wifi Router:

Sometimes, your router is causing the problem. If it’s not working properly, you might face problem in running the Netflix on Roku.

Check for Wi-fi connectivity with any smartphone or tablet. If no any Wi-fi enabled device is working properly with the Wireless connection, then it indicates that your router is not working fine.

Simply unplug your router and wait for few minutes and plug it back in. It takes few minutes in complete reset of your Wi-fi router. Once it is done, connect Roku with the Wi-fi and run the Netflix app. It should work fine on Roku now.

Check your internet speed

Many users will not consider it as a cause of Netflix is not working on Roku. With the slow internet connection, it becomes hard for streaming service to deliver the Video content.  

To have a best watching experience as per Roku, you need to have minimum Download speed of 3.0 Mbps and up to 9 Mbps speed for HD content is suitable.

Consult with your internet service provider regarding internet speed. If you have low limit connection, or having old router, upgrade it and enjoy amazing web series and movies on Netflix.
